Turkey -Factors to Watch on March 22

ISTANBUL, March 22 (Reuters) - Here are news, reports and events that may affect Turkish financial markets on Wednesday. The lira stood at 19.0315 against the dollar at 0442 GMT, unchanged from its close on Tuesday. The main BIST 100 share index closed 1.38% lower at 4,906.63 points on Tuesday.


GLOBAL MARKETS Asian shares staged a cautious bounce on Wednesday with hopes a global banking crisis would be averted vying with uncertainty over the outlook for U.S. interest rates as the Federal Reserve holds a high-stakes meeting on policy.


ERDOGAN Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan will receive letter of confidence from the ambassadors of the North Macedonia (1130 GMT), United Kingdom (1215 GMT) and Gambia (1300 GMT).


IYI PARTY The nationalist opposition IYI Party will hold its parliamentary group meeting (0730 GMT).


KURDISH VOTES Kurds who have long felt sidelined in Turkish politics could have a decisive role in a closely fought May election that will determine whether President Tayyip Erdogan extends his rule after more than two decades in power.


CAPITAL INCREASE Turkish state lenders Halkbank and Vakifbank said on Tuesday that they will increase their capitals by 30 billion lira and 32 billion lira, respectively.
