(Adds exports, imports and tourism receipts)
ATHENS, March 23 (Reuters) - Greece's current account
deficit narrowed sharply in January compared with the same month
last year on the back of strong exports, the Bank of Greece said
on Thursday.
The current account deficit came to 125 million euros ($136
million), central bank data showed, narrowing from a deficit of
2.1 billion euros in January 2022.
Stripping out fuel, exports grew by 4.2% at constant prices,
while imports dropped by 2.0%, the data showed.
Tourism revenue rose to 224 million euros from 130.5 million
euros in January last year when COVID-19 restrictions hurt
travel. Foreign arrivals increased by 86% year-on-year in
January.
At the end of January, Greek reserve assets stood at 11.8
billion euros, the data showed.
