LISBON, March 24 (Reuters) - ECB Governing Council member Mario Centeno said on Friday Europe's banking system was not demonstrating signs of growing financial tensions seen outside the euro zone, although it was not completely isolated due to interconnections.
"I don't see these signs (of growing tensions)," he told a news conference, adding though that the ECB was constantly monitoring financial stability.
Banking stocks fell sharply again on Friday, with European giants Deutsche Bank and UBS knocked by worries that regulators and central banks have not yet contained the worst shock to the sector since the 2008 global financial crisis.
