MUMBAI, March 27 (Reuters) - STOCKS:
The benchmark BSE Sensex rose 276.03 points, or 0.48%,
to 57,803.13, while the broader NSE index gained 103
points, or 0.61%, to 17,048.05 as authorities globally took
steps to contain the banking turmoil, helping dispel some of the
contagion fears. RUPEE:
The Indian rupee strengthened 0.14% versus the U.S.
dollar, and quoted at 82.37 per dollar paring back some gains as
risk sentiment remained subdued, boosting the dollar index. GOVERNMENT BONDS:
The benchmark 10-year bond was quoted at 99.59
rupees, with yield up 1 bps at 7.3195% as traders await
April-September borrowing calendar this week. OVERNIGHT INDEXED SWAPS:
The one-year overnight indexed swap rate was up 1
bps at 6.68%, while the benchmark five-year swap rate stayed fixed to 6.18%.
CALL MONEY/REPOS:
India's overnight call money rate was down 5 bps at
6.65%. The overnight TREPS rate was at 6.80%,
compared with the previous day's weighted average of 6.5424%.
