LONDON, March 28 (Reuters) - Bank of England Governor
Andrew Bailey said on Tuesday there were several offers for the
UK arm of Silicon Valley Bank before it was bought by HSBC earlier this month for 1 pound ($1.23).
"There were a number of possible offers ... most of them
don't turn into anything real and then occasionally you get ones
where they set conditions and you say 'no sorry, we can't do
that'," Bailey told parliament's Treasury Committee when asked
about the rescue deal brokered by the BoE and the UK finance
ministry.
