MUMBAI, March 28 (Reuters) - STOCKS:
The benchmark BSE Sensex fell 40.14 points, or 0.07%,
to 57,613.72, while the broader NSE index lost 34
points, or 0.20%, to 16,951.7 as caution about broader economic
challenges and a sharp slide in Adani group stocks soured
sentiment. RUPEE:
The Indian rupee strengthened 0.22% versus the U.S.
dollar, and quoted at 82.1875 per dollar as rescue of failed
U.S.-based Silicon Valley Bank calmed worries about a larger
fallout in the sector. GOVERNMENT BONDS:
Benchmark 10-year bond was quoted at 99.56
rupees, with yield up 2 bps at 7.3240%; vs previous close of
7.3035% as heavy bond sales from states weighed on sentiment,
with market focus shifting to New Delhi's April-September
borrowing plan OVERNIGHT INDEXED SWAPS:
The one-year overnight indexed swap rate was
unchanged at 6.73%, while the benchmark five-year swap rate fell 1 bps to 6.21%.
CALL MONEY/REPOS:
India's overnight call money rate was down 45 bps at
6.25% against 6.70% in the previous session. The overnight TREPS
rate was at 6.35%, compared with the previous
day's weighted average of 6.6956%.
