Turkey - Factors to Watch on March 29

ISTANBUL, March 29 (Reuters) - Here are news, reports and events that may affect Turkish financial markets on Wednesday. The lira traded at 19.1180 against the dollar at 0400 GMT, unchanged from its close on Tuesday. The main BIST 100 share index closed 3.73% lower at 4,811.45 points on Tuesday.


GLOBAL MARKETS Asian shares rose sharply on Wednesday while the dollar was on the defensive as easing concerns over the banking sector revived risk appetite, while Alibaba's stock soared on the internet behemoth's plans to split into six units.


ERDOGAN SCHEDULE President Tayyip Erdogan will make a speech to his ruling AK Party in parliament (0900 GMT). He will later host Hungarian President Katalin Novak (1400 GMT) and hold a joint news conference (1530 GMT).


CENTRAL BANK GOVERNOR Central Bank Governor Sahap Kavcioglu will attend the monthly assembly meeting of the Ankara Chamber of Industry (0700 GMT).


TURKEY-IRAQ ARBITRATION CASE Turkey's Energy Ministry said on Tuesday that Iraq had been ordered by the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) to pay compensation to Ankara in a longstanding arbitration case related to oil exports from northern Iraq via Turkey.


OPPOSITION MEETINGS The opposition IYI Party will hold its parliamentary group meeting (0845 GMT). Kemal Kilicdaroglu, main opposition presidential candidate and head of the main opposition CHP, will chair a CHP meeting (1100 GMT) and hold talks with another presidential candidate, Muharrem Ince (1400 GMT).


SYRIA TALKS IN MOSCOW The deputy foreign ministers of Syria, Turkey, Iran and Russia will meet in April in Moscow, Turkish and Iranian officials said on Tuesday, building on contacts between Ankara and Damascus after years of hostilities during the Syrian war.


WHEAT TENDER Turkey's state grain board TMO bought some 695,000 tonnes of milling wheat in an international tender on Tuesday, filling the entire volume it had tendered for, European traders said.


CENTRAL BANK PROFIT DISTRIBUTION Turkey's central bank decided to pay dividends from its 2022 accounting period to shareholders, including the treasury, it announced on Tuesday at its annual general meeting.
