STOCKS:
The benchmark BSE Sensex rose 647.35 points, or 1.12%,
to 58,607.44, while the broader NSE index gained 199.35
points, or 1.17%, to 17,280.05, led by gains in index
heavyweight shares. RUPEE:
The Indian rupee strengthened 0.18% versus the U.S.
dollar, and quoted at 82.20 per dollar, tracking broad dollar
losses and upbeat risk appetite. GOVERNMENT BONDS:
Benchmark 10-year bond was quoted at 99.82
rupees, with yield unchanged at 7.2851%; vs previous close of
7.2897%, as valuation-led buying offsets impact of heavy
April-September borrowing. OVERNIGHT INDEXED SWAPS:
The one-year overnight indexed swap rate was
unchanged at 6.76%, while the benchmark five-year swap rate fell 2 bps to 6.22%.
CALL MONEY/REPOS:
India's overnight call money rate was up 125 bps at
8.00% against 6.75% in the previous session. The overnight TREPS
rate was at 7.19%, compared with the previous
day's weighted average of 6.7703%, on last day of the financial
year.
