Lead times declined from February. Purchase prices decreased but still signalled an "intensive and sustained increase," it said, with the index staying above the 50-point watershed for the 32nd consecutive month. Export and import indices both remained in growth territory. (Reporting by Krisztina Than)
BUDAPEST, April 3 (Reuters) - Hungary's
seasonally-adjusted Purchasing Managers' Index declined to 55.3 in March from a revised 56.3 in February, the
Association of Logistics, Purchasing and Inventory Management
(MLBKT) said on Monday.
It said the March reading came in above the long-term
monthly average of 52.3 and an average reading of 54.2 in the
same month of the past three years. The 50-point mark separates
growth in manufacturing from contraction.
"After the solid expansion in February, we could see a more
modest upswing in March," it said. "Index components generally
declined but most of them pointed towards expansion."
Production volumes declined from February but were above the
50-point mark. The index of new orders dropped by one percentage
point but still showed expansion, it said.
