April 7 (Reuters) - India's currency, debt and equity markets will be closed on Friday, April 7, for the Good Friday holiday. Trading will resume on Monday, April 10.

The Nifty 50 ended 0.24% higher at 17,599.15 and the S&P BSE Sensex rose 0.24% to close at 59,832.97 on Thursday, helped by real estate and financials stocks, after the Reserve Bank of India unexpectedly kept its key policy rate unchanged. The two indexes logged gains for the second consecutive week.

The Indian rupee strengthened 0.14% to quoted at 81.8850 per U.S. dollar, while forward premiums fell on Thursday after the Reserve Bank of India surprised markets by holding rates. The local currency posted its third straight weekly advance.

The benchmark 10-year bond was quoted at 100.31 rupees, with the yield down 6 basis points at 7.2120% after the RBI surprised the market with a pause on rates. The yield ended the week 11 basis points lower, its biggest such move in two months. (Bengaluru Newsroom)
