NAIROBI, April 6 (Reuters) - The Kenyan shilling weakened against the dollar on Thursday, as manufacturers hunted
limited supplies of foreign exchange, traders said.
The shilling has lost 7.6% of its value against the
greenback this year, according to Refinitiv data.
At 0738 GMT, commercial banks quoted the shilling at
133.45/65 compared to Wednesday's close of 133.30/50.
The market has seen increased liquidity in the last three
weeks thanks to the restoration of the long-dormant interbank
market, although not yet at sufficient levels to stabilise the
local currency, traders said.
"We're seeing some limited activity on the market ahead of
the long (Easter) holiday, and much more on the demand side from
manufacturing," said a trader at one commercial bank.
