STOCKS:
The benchmark BSE Sensex rose 231.87 points, or 0.39%,
to 59,921.18, while the broader NSE index gained 63.1
points, or 0.36%, to 17,620.15, after the Reserve Bank of India
kept key policy rates unchanged "to assess the progress made so
far" in tackling inflation. RUPEE:
The Indian rupee strengthened 0.14% versus the U.S.
dollar, and quoted at 81.90 per dollar, on likely custodial
inflows, traders said. GOVERNMENT BONDS:
Benchmark 10-year bond was quoted at 100.32
rupees, with yield down 6 bps at 7.2106%; vs previous close of
7.2750%, after the RBI maintained surprise status quo on rate. OVERNIGHT INDEXED SWAPS:
The one-year overnight indexed swap rate was down
19 bps at 6.61%, while the benchmark five-year swap rate fell 19 bps to 6.07%.
CALL MONEY/REPOS:
India's overnight call money rate was down 15 bps at
6.10% against 6.25% in the previous session. The overnight TREPS
rate was at 6.44%, compared with the previous
day's weighted average of 6.2320%.
