JOHANNESBURG, April 11 (Reuters) - The following scheduled economic events, equity and currency market moves may affect South African markets on Tuesday.

SOUTH AFRICAN MARKETS The South African rand weakened against the dollar on Thursday as investors awaited U.S. jobs data and its implications for the Federal Reserve's monetary policy. On the Johannesburg Stock Exchange, the blue-chip Top-40 .JTOPI index and the broader All-share index .JALSH ended the day about 0.6% up. GLOBAL MARKETS Asia stocks posted gains on Tuesday, boosted by investor optimism that the region's central banks will continue to pause or end interest rate hike cycles, whatever action the U.S. Federal Reserve takes. WALL STREET U.S. stock indexes clawed back from steep losses to a mixed close on Monday as investors digested Friday's employment report and prepared for an eventful week of inflation data and bank earnings. GOLD Gold prices gained on Tuesday after falling over 1% in the previous session, as the dollar eased ahead of key U.S. inflation data.
