FRANKFURT, April 13 (Reuters) - The euro zone is not heading for a recession as growth is likely to accelerate after a weak first quarter, European Central Bank policymaker Joachim Nagel said on Thursday.

"I do not see that there is a recession coming," Nagel told a panel at the International Monetary Fund's spring meeting in Washington. "There's a maybe a weak first quarter but the rest of the year seems to be rather favorable."
