STOCKS:
The benchmark BSE Sensex rose 38.23 points, or 0.06%,
to 60,431, while the broader NSE index gained 21.5
points, or 0.12%, to 17,833.9, as major global equity markets
rose, but gains were capped by declines in IT stocks. RUPEE:
The Indian rupee strengthened 0.28% versus the U.S.
dollar, and quoted at 81.85 per dollar, as the greenback
declined on a cooler than expected U.S. retail inflation print. GOVERNMENT BONDS:
Benchmark 10-year bond was quoted at 100.22
rupees, with yield up 1 bps at 7.2259%, as debt auction added to
supply and continued profit booking offset impact of lower
inflation readings. OVERNIGHT INDEXED SWAPS:
The one-year overnight indexed swap rate was
unchanged at 6.56%, while the benchmark five-year swap rate rose 4 bps to 6.13%.
CALL MONEY/REPOS:
India's overnight call money rate was unchanged at
6.30% against 6.30% in the previous session. The overnight TREPS
rate was at 6.48%, compared with the previous
day's weighted average of 6.2659%.
