JOHANNESBURG, April 18 (Reuters) - The following scheduled economic events, company announcements, equity and currency market moves may affect South African markets on Tuesday.

SOUTH AFRICAN MARKETS The South African rand fell on Monday as the dollar gained on global markets, while stocks were down at the day's close. GLOBAL MARKETS Asia's shares pared losses on Tuesday as China's economy recorded a stronger-than-expected recovery from punishing pandemic lockdowns last year that led to a major slowdown. WALL STREET Major U.S. stock indexes posted modest gains on Monday, helped by financial and industrial shares, while investors braced for a heavy week of corporate results and comments from Federal Reserve officials. GOLD Gold prices rose on Tuesday after two sessions of losses as the dollar eased, while investors sought more clarity on the U.S. Federal Reserve's monetary policy stance.
