STOCKS:
The benchmark BSE Sensex rose 22.71 points, or 0.04%,
to 59,655.06, while the broader NSE index gained 3.6
points, or 0.02%, to 17,628.05, as investors remained cautious
after weak quarterly updates from IT companies. RUPEE:
The Indian rupee strengthened 0.07% to 82.09 per U.S.
dollar, ending marginally higher as risk appetite remained tepid
and marked its first weekly loss in five weeks. GOVERNMENT BONDS:
Benchmark 10-year bond was quoted at 100.49
rupees, with yield down 4 bps at 7.1849%, after stronger than
expected bidding at debt sale led to short covering. OVERNIGHT INDEXED SWAPS:
The one-year overnight indexed swap rate was down
4 bps at 6.55%, while the benchmark five-year swap rate fell 5 bps to 6.05%.
CALL MONEY/REPOS:
India's overnight call money rate was up 25 bps at
6.80% against 6.55% in the previous session. The overnight TREPS
rate was at 6.80%, compared with the previous
day's weighted average of 6.5530%.
