MUMBAI, April 21 (Reuters) - STOCKS: The benchmark BSE Sensex rose 22.71 points, or 0.04%, to 59,655.06, while the broader NSE index lost 0.4 points, or -0.00%, to 17,624.05 as investors remained cautious after a weak outlook from HCLTech and ahead of the quarterly earnings of Reliance Industries. RUPEE:
The Indian rupee strengthened 0.07% versus the U.S. dollar, and quoted at 82.09 per U.S. dollar ending marginally higher as risk appetite remained tepid and marked its first weekly loss in five weeks. GOVERNMENT BONDS: Benchmark 10-year bond was quoted at 100.49 rupees, with yield down 4 bps at 7.1856%; vs previous close of 7.2206% after stronger-than-expected demand at the debt auction triggered short covering resulting in increased trading activity. OVERNIGHT INDEXED SWAPS: The one-year overnight indexed swap rate was down 3 bps at 6.56%, while the benchmark five-year swap rate fell 5 bps to 6.05%.
CALL MONEY/REPOS:
India's overnight call money rate was up 10 bps at 6.65% against 6.55% in the previous session. The overnight TREPS rate was at 6.80%, compared with the previous day's weighted average of 6.5530%. (Reporting by Bhakti Tambe)
