MUMBAI, April 24 (Reuters) -
STOCKS:
The benchmark BSE Sensex rose 197.76 points, or 0.33%,
to 59,852.82, while the broader NSE index gained 31.55
points, or 0.18%, to 17,655.6, led by financials, after improved
quarterly results from heavyweights Reliance Industries and
ICICI Bank let investors shrug off concerns of a lacklustre
earnings season. RUPEE:
The Indian rupee strengthened 0.05% versus the U.S.
dollar, and quoted at 82.05 per dollar, slightly higher on
likely dollar sales by speculators. GOVERNMENT BONDS:
Benchmark 10-year bond was quoted at 100.96
rupees, with yield down 3 bps at 7.1198% vs previous close of
7.1556%. OVERNIGHT INDEXED SWAPS:
The one-year overnight indexed swap rate was down
2 bps at 6.56%, while the benchmark five-year swap rate fell 2 bps to 6.05%.
CALL MONEY/REPOS:
India's overnight call money rate was up 10 bps at
6.75% against 6.65% in the previous session. The overnight TREPS
rate was at 6.77%, compared with the previous
day's weighted average of 6.7095%.
