STOCKS:
The benchmark BSE Sensex rose 159.07 points, or 0.26%,
to 60,808.45, while the broader NSE index gained 51.9
points, or 0.29%, to 17,966.95, dragged by financials after Axis
Bank Ltd's weaker-than-expected March quarter result, while the
uptick in beaten-down information technology stocks capped
losses. RUPEE:
The Indian rupee strengthened 0.05% versus the U.S.
dollar, and quoted at 81.80 per dollar, tracking strength on
most of its Asian peers GOVERNMENT BONDS:
Benchmark 10-year bond was quoted at 101.05
rupees, with yield up 1 bps at 7.1071%; vs previous close of
7.0987%, as traders await debt auction result. OVERNIGHT INDEXED SWAPS:
The one-year overnight indexed swap rate was down
1 bps at 6.56%, while the benchmark five-year swap rate rose 4 bps to 6.05%.
CALL MONEY/REPOS:
India's overnight call money rate was unchanged at
6.75% against 6.75% in the previous session. The overnight TREPS
rate was at 6.79%, compared with the previous
day's weighted average of 6.7557%.
