JOHANNESBURG, May 2 (Reuters) - The following scheduled economic events, equity and currency market moves may affect South African markets on Tuesday.


ECONOMIC EVENTS Government bond auction April vehicle sales


SOUTH AFRICAN MARKETS The South African rand was little changed against the dollar on Friday, as local budget and trade data failed to offer much relief to investors in Africa's most industrialised economy. GLOBAL MARKETS Asian shares wobbled in cautious trade on Tuesday ahead of a series of data releases and central bank meetings, which began with a surprise rate hike in Australia that boosted the local dollar. WALL STREET U.S. stocks ended little changed on Monday as investors took in the weekend auction of First Republic Bank and braced for this week's expected interest rate hike from the Federal Reserve. GOLD Gold prices were flat on Tuesday, as cautious market participants awaited fresh cues from top central banks on their monetary policy plans, especially from the U.S. Federal Reserve.
