May 4 (Reuters) - Greek industrial and energy group
Mytilineos reported a 72% year-on-year surge in its
first-quarter core profit on Thursday, helped by a jump of
around 50% in the profitability of its renewables unit.
The results were also boosted by the group's stronger
presence in the supply and trading of natural gas in
southeastern Europe.
The Athens-based group reported earnings before interest,
taxes, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) of 225 million
euros ($249 million), compared with 130 million euros a year
earlier, while its net profit was up 113% year-on-year to 143
million euros.
