NAIROBI, May 10 (Reuters) - The following company announcements, scheduled economic indicators, debt and currency market moves and political events may affect African markets on Wednesday. - - - - - EVENTS: Zambia President Hakainde Hichilema speaks at Zambia investment event in London.


Rwanda releases consumer inflation data for April. Inflation was 19.3% year-on-year in March.


Ghana Statistical Service to release consumer inflation data for April. Consumer inflation slowed in March for the third consecutive month to 45% year-on-year from 52.8% in February.


GLOBAL MARKETS Stocks were struggling to advance in Asia and the dollar was firm on Wednesday ahead of U.S. consumer price data that could damage hopes for interest rate cuts later this year if inflation fails to show much of a decline. WORLD OIL PRICES Oil prices slipped in early trade on Wednesday after industry data showed a surprise build in U.S. crude stocks, while investors awaited U.S. inflation data for April that could give direction for the Federal Reserve's next rate decision. The South African rand and stocks fell on Tuesday as the dollar edged up ahead of closely watched U.S. inflation data due this week.


KENYA MARKETS


The Kenyan shilling traded slightly weaker against the dollar on Tuesday, under pressure from energy companies seeking foreign currency, traders said.


SUDAN POLITICS


Residents of Sudan's capital reported heavy air strikes in central Khartoum on Tuesday amid a surge in looting while Saudi Arabia said negotiators were working toward a short-term ceasefire.


CONGO FLOODS


The death toll from flooding in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo crept higher on Tuesday as aid workers found more bodies among the muddy devastation and wounded residents succumbed to their injuries in an underequipped local clinic.


SENEGAL POLITICS


Senegalese opposition leader Ousmane Sonko on Tuesday rejected a court ruling that could preclude him from running in next year's election, vowing to pursue his candidacy and calling for a mass protest against President Macky Sall.


KENYA CULT


Kenyan investigators exhumed 21 more bodies on Tuesday as they resumed a search for followers of a doomsday cult, who the interior minister described as victims of a "highly organised crime".


MALI COTTON


Mali expects to produce 780,000 tonnes of cotton for the current 2023/24 season, the ministry of agriculture said, recovering from a lower forecast than usual for 2022/23 due to bad weather and pests.


NIGERIA EXPORTS


Nigeria's non-oil exports grew 40% to $5.6 billion in 2022, driven by a central bank scheme to pay bonuses to exporters of processed goods, Governor Godwin Emefiele said on Tuesday.
