UPDATE 1-UK Stocks-Factors to watch on May 10

(Adds news items, updates futures) May 10 - Britain's FTSE 100 index is seen opening higher on Wednesday, with futures up 0.21%.



* J D WETHERSPOON: J D Wetherspoon Plc forecast record full-year sales and its annual profit to be closer to the top-end of market expectations, after the British pubs group reported higher revenue in the third quarter.



* MELROSE: Melrose Industries Plc said it


will continue as a pure-play aerospace company post the recent spin-off its automotive unit, after its premium engines business helped lift revenue for the first four months of the year by 19%.



* ASOS: ASOS , Britain's one-time poster child for the shift to online fashion retailing, swung to a


first half loss .



* SMITHS GROUP: British industrial technology company Smiths Group Plc named


Steve Williams as its next chairman to succeed George Buckley.



* COMPASS GROUP: Catering firm Compass Group raised its fiscal 2023 profit, revenue, and margin forecasts, and increased its share buyback, after half-year profit rose 41%.


* BP: BP expects to make a final investment decision in 2024 on a cluster of carbon capture projects in northern England, including a gas-fired power plant in Teesside, it said.
* MELROSE: British engineer Melrose Industries will reposition itself into a purely aerospace focused group, Sky News reported, citing sources.
* JD SPORTS: British sportswear retailer JD Sports Fashion is set to name BGL Group's Dominic Platt as its new chief financial officer this week, Sky News reported.
* UK's main stock indexes fell on Tuesday as investors were wary ahead of U.S. inflation data that could influence the Federal Reserve's interest rate policy.
