U.S. pipeline operator Magellan Midstream Partners for about $14 billion, a deal that would form one of the biggest U.S. companies involved in transporting and storing energy.


- Activist investor Engaged Capital is planning to run a proxy fight for three board seats at high-end burger chain Shake Shack , according to people familiar with the matter.



- Australian gold miner Newcrest Mining Ltd said on Monday it would back Newmont Corp's A$26.2 billion
($17.77 billion) takeover offer in one of the world's largest buyouts so far this year.
