March 6 (Reuters) - Canada's main stock index fell sharply on Thursday as trade tension persisted even after U.S. President Donald Trump exempted automakers from his 25% tariffs on Canada and Mexico for one month.
At 9:31 a.m. ET (1431 GMT), the Toronto Stock Exchange's S&P/TSX composite index (.GSPTSE), was down 0.8% at 24,662.09.
