Aug 14 (Reuters) - Canada's main stock index edged down at open on Thursday following a record-breaking previous session, as hotter-than-expected U.S. inflation data undermined interest rate cut hopes.

At 9:31 a.m. ET (1331 GMT), the Toronto Stock Exchange's S&P/TSX composite index (.GSPTSE), was down 0.25% at 27,922.69 points.
