Wall St opens lower as AI worries spook investors; Nasdaq eyes monthly drop teaser image

Feb 27 (Reuters) - Wall Street's main indexes opened lower on Friday as AI anxiety dragged on tech stocks, with the Nasdaq bracing for its steepest monthly drop since March 2025, while hotter-than-expected inflation data also dampened sentiment.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average (.DJI), fell 245.6 points, or 0.50%, at the open to 49253.57. The S&P 500 (.SPX), fell 52.3 points, or 0.76%, at the open to 6856.54​, while the Nasdaq Composite (.IXIC),  dropped 263.0 points, or 1.15%, to 22615.429 at the opening bell.
