US DOJ, White House clearing way to keep Powell probe going, Bloomberg News reports teaser image

March 19 (Reuters) - The leaders at the U.S. Justice Department are rallying behind ‌federal prosecutor Jeanine Pirro to investigate Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell and the White House is not opposing, Bloomberg News reported on Thursday, citing sources.

U.S. President Donald Trump had been open to the idea of dropping the probe into Powell until last ‌Friday, when a judge rejected subpoenas issued to the central bank, but he is now believed by aides and allies to support a push to appeal, the report said.

Reuters could not immediately verify the report.
