March 8 (Reuters) - Janice Eberly, a senior associate dean at Northwestern University's Kellogg School of Management, has emerged as the frontrunner in the White House search to succeed Lael Brainard as vice chair of the Federal Reserve, Bloomberg News reported on Wednesday, citing people familiar with the matter. Brainard departed from the post last month to become one of President Joe Biden's top economic advisers. Eberly recently met White House Chief of Staff Jeff Zients, Brainard and Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen for an interview, the report said. The Department of the Treasury and White House had no immediate comment on the report. The Wall Street Journal reported last month that the White House was considering Eberly and Karen Dynan, who served as the chief economist at Treasury during Barack Obama's presidency, for the number-two job at the Federal Reserve. The newspaper cited unnamed sources familiar with the matter. <^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ FACTBOX-Some potential successors to Brainard at the Fed
