(Kitco News) - The AurMac property has the potential to become an 8 to 10-million ounce resource, said Banyan Gold's (TSX-V: BYN) President and CEO Tara Christie.
Christie spoke to Kitco mid-July in Dawson City at Invest Yukon's Yukon Mining Property Tours & Investment Conference 2023.
After a major discovery at Powerline and 75,000 meters of drilling, last year and so far in 2023, AurMac has an updated resource of 6.2 million ounces, vaulting Banyan into the big leagues of gold explorers.
"Because this deposit is so consistent, it's near surface, you can add ounces very quickly with drill holes," said Christie, speaking to Kitco mid-July in Dawson City at Invest Yukon's Yukon Mining Property Tours & Investment Conference 2023.
Paul Harris asked Christie how the competitive landscape has changed, with Victoria Gold opening the nearby Eagle mine, and Hecla Mining buying Alexco with its Keno Hill advanced project.
"It's a really exciting position to be in and that's why we're really trying to make sure we're checking all the boxes to de-risk this, said Christie. She noted that unlike Victoria Gold and Snowline Gold, Banyan has yet to find the intrusive thought to be the source of the mineralization.
"The excitement of exploration is that potential for discovery and we've explored less than 5% of our property because we've been so focused on adding ounces with a very systematic grid."
