Democrats not budging on need for 'clean' debt limit bill with no spending cuts attached -Schumer

WASHINGTON, May 2 (Reuters) - Democrats' position "remains the same" on the need to pass a "clean" bipartisan increase in the government's debt ceiling, U.S. Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer said on Tuesday.


In his speech on the Senate floor, Schumer gave no timetable for a possible Senate vote on a debt limit bill with no spending cuts attached. (Reporting by Richard Cowan and Katharine Jackson)
