Aug 13 (Reuters) - Futures tracking Canada's main stock index edged higher on Thursday as investors weighed corporate earnings and stalled U.S.-Iran peace talks, while awaiting U.S. PPI data for clues on the Fed's monetary policy ‌path.

September futures on the S&P/TSX index were up 0.2% at 6:50 a.m. ET, after the benchmark closed at another record high on Wednesday led by financial and mining shares.

Iran and the United States remained at loggerheads amid efforts to negotiate a permanent end to the Middle East conflict, a senior Iranian source said.

Brent crude futures fell 1.9% as traders weighed signs of weaker global demand this year and higher U.S. crude stocks, though the fall

was cushioned by stalled talks to reopen the Strait of Hormuz. West Texas Intermediate crude shed 2%.

In earnings, investment firm Brookfield (BN.TO), posted a rise in second-quarter distributable earnings per share.

Engineering firm Stantec (STN.TO), late on Wednesday beat second-quarter adjusted profit estimates driven by acquisition growth, while CCL Industries (CCLb.TO), topped second-quarter sales estimates.

Pan ‌American Silver (PAAS.TO),  missed quarterly adjusted profit estimates on lower gold output.

Meanwhile investors also await U.S. July PPI data, due at 8:30 a.m. ET, for clues on the U.S. Federal Reserve's monetary policy path.

Tame July U.S. consumer inflation data has strengthened expectations that the U.S. central bank will hold interest rates steady at its September meeting.

The Bank of Canada is also widely expected to keep interest rates unchanged during its next meeting, as per data compiled by LSEG.

Separately, Canadian officials working to persuade Washington not to impose additional tariffs next week are unhappy with the latest U.S. offer to ease the measures, CBC News reported on Wednesday, citing two sources.
