(Kitco News) - Battery metals producer and developer Jervois Global (TSX-V: JRV) announced today it has received an environmental installation license for its São Miguel Paulista (SMP) nickel and cobalt refinery in São Paulo, Brazil.
The company said that this license from the State environmental regulator, Companhia Ambiental do Estado de São Paulo, represents São Paulo State approval for construction of the Stage 1 SMP restart.
"This is another important milestone as Jervois continues detailed engineering on the restart prior to final investment decision," the company noted in a press-release.
Jervois added it forecasts to produce 10,000 metric tonnes per annum and 2,000 metric tonnes per annum of refined nickel and cobalt metal cathode respectively in Stage 1.
The company said that SMP is Latin America's only electrolytic class 1 nickel and cobalt refinery and operated successfully for more than 30 years prior to being placed on care and maintenance.
Jervois is a vertically integrated cobalt development company developing a fully-integrated cobalt value chain, with significant nickel and copper exposure. The company has development stage assets, growth opportunities and exploration projects.
