Number one diversified miner BHP Billiton said production and unit cost guidance remains unchanged for the 2023 financial year.

The company released its operational review for the quarter ended in September.

Overall copper production was 410.1 kt, 11% lower than the previous quarter due to operational and grade issues. Iron ore was 65.1 Mt, 1% higher than the previous quarter. Nickel was up 10% to 20.7 kt.

The company said its Jansen stage one is "...tracking to plan, with civil and mechanical construction activities progressing. We are targeting Jansen Stage 1 first production in the 2026 calendar year and have accelerated the Jansen Stage 2 study." The Jansen Potash Project is located approximately 140 kilometres east of Saskatoon in the province of Saskatchewan, Canada. BHP is spending $5.7 billion in the Jansen Stage 1 project. Anticipated initial capacity is 4.3 - 4.5 Mtpa.
