(Kitco News) - On Wednesday, Anglo American announced that the provisional value of rough diamond sales for De Beers' ninth sales cycle of 2022 amounted to $450 million, higher than the ninth sales cycle of 2021 ($438 million) and lower than the previous cycle ($508 million).
In a statement, the company said it saw good demand for its rough diamonds during ninth sales cycle, “with sales reflecting what is traditionally a quieter time for the diamond midstream ahead of polishing factories reopening in India following the Diwali holidays.”
Anglo American is a leading producer of diamonds (through De Beers), copper, platinum group metals, the steelmaking ingredients of iron ore and metallurgical coal, and nickel - with crop nutrients in development and thermal coal operations planned for divestment.
