(Kitco News) - Guanajuato Silver is consolidating an old mining district in Mexico said CEO James Anderson.

On Sunday Anderson spoke to Kitco at the Mining Investment Event of the North in Quebec City.

The Mexican-focused company (TSXV:GSVR) mines and processes silver and gold concentrate from its El Cubo mine and mill. Guanajuato's El Pinquico project is advancing to restart. Both projects are located within 11km of the city of Guanajuato, Mexico. The company intends to pursue a hub and spoke strategy centered around the El Cubo Mine.

"With El Cubo we really have all of the ingredients for a hub and spoke mining operation," said Anderson. "I always felt that that getting El Cubo was really the first stage in consolidating the whole district. Guanajuato has 450 years of history, so there's a lot of old mines that were in production until not very long ago that have resources that were stranded for a number of different reasons. Expanding the operation in Guanajuato—that's really our raison d'etre."
