(Kitco News) - On Thursday, Bear Creek Mining (TSXV: BCM) announced production results for Q3 2022, representing the company's first full quarter of production from the Mercedes gold mine in Sonora, Mexico.

According to the company's statement, it produced 11,169 ounces of gold during Q3 2022, which is a 14.9% increase in Mercedes production year over year.

The company said that the operational improvement program initiated shortly after acquiring Mercedes began showing positive results during Q3 2022, with tonnage, gold production, and development meters all trending higher throughout the quarter.

Bear Creek also noted that its focus at Mercedes is to safely increase throughput to achieve higher gold production, adding that "…management has identified several cost reduction opportunities and measures are being implemented to continue to increase production while lowering operating costs."

Bear Creek Mining is a precious metals producer. The company indicated that its wholly owned Corani silver-lead-zinc deposit in Puno, Peru is one of the largest fully permitted silver deposits in the world. The Mercedes gold-silver mine in Sonora, Mexico was acquired by Bear Creek in April 2022.
