(Kitco News) - According to the Ministry of Energy and Mines of Peru (MINEM), gold production in Peru, the world’s eighth largest gold producing country, was 8,882 kg in October 2022, up 5.2% compared to 8,444 kg mined in October 2021.
MINEM said that this positive result was achieved primarily due to higher production recorded by Compañía Minera Poderosa S.A. (+3.9%), Minera Yanacocha S.R.L. (+23.1%) and Consorcio Minero Horizonte S.A. (+23.0%).
Importantly, the ministry noted that in October, Compañía Minera Ares S.A.C. (produced 503 kg of gold) and Shahuindo S.A.C. (produced 528 kg of gold) reported their highest production levels so far this year.
At the company level, Compañía Minera Poderosa S.A. maintained its first position accounting for 9.7% of total gold production in Peru, followed by Minera Yanacocha S.R.L. (8.1%) and Minera Aurífera Retamas S.A. (6.6%).
