Fatality at Harmony Gold's Kusasalethu mine

Harmony Gold announced today that an employee died on Thursday afternoon, 15 December 2022, following a seismic event, which caused a fall of ground incident at its Kusasalethu mine, near Carletonville, in Gauteng.

“We are deeply saddened by this loss. We extend our condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of the deceased,” Peter Steenkamp, chief executive officer of Harmony said.

The company said that relevant authorities, as well as the family members of the deceased, were informed of the incident and a comprehensive internal investigation is currently underway.
