(Kitco News) - K92 Mining reported today that two individuals have been fatally injured following a vehicular accident on May 2.
In a statement, the company said the accident occurred offsite from the mining lease area, on a country road, adding that mining operations were not impacted.
K92 Mining added that its Emergency Services responded to the incident, the appropriate authorities have been notified and an investigation is underway.
CEO and Director John Lewins said, “On behalf of K92 Mining, to the family, friends and co-workers of our two colleagues we offer our sincerest condolences, and heartfelt prayers during this very difficult time."
K92 Mining is engaged in the production of gold, copper and silver at the Kainantu gold mine in the Eastern Highlands province of Papua New Guinea, as well as exploration and development of mineral deposits in the immediate vicinity of the mine.
