(Kitco News) - According to the Ministry of Energy and Mines of Peru (MINEM), gold production in Peru, the world’s tenth largest gold producing country, was 7,800 kg in March 2023, up 1.0% compared to 7,727 kg mined in March 2022.
MINEM said that this positive performance was primarily due to the higher production reported by Consorcio Minero Horizonte S.R.L. (+34.6%).
At the company level, Compañía Minera Poderosa S.A. maintained its first position accounting for 9.5% of total gold production in Peru, followed by Minera Yanacocha S.R.L. (7.8%) and Consorcio Minero Horizonte S.R.L. (6.7%).
At the regional level, La Libertad kept the first position accounting for 33.8% of Peru’s total gold production, followed by Arequipa (22.5%) and Cajamarca (20.6%).
