(Kitco News) - Battery materials firm Talga Group (ASX: TLG) announced Thursday it has received the environmental permit, including a granted execution order, for its commercial battery anode plant in Luleå, Sweden.
In a statement, Talga said that the execution order allows the company to commence construction groundworks in Q3 2023, adding that the environmental permit approval follows the granting of the building permits by Luleå Municipality, which entered into force on 24 March 2023.
Managing Director Mark Thompson commented, “The Court’s decision to permit Europe’s first commercial natural graphite anode plant is an exciting milestone for both Talga and the green transition.
“We are thrilled to move to the next stage of project development and to commence groundworks for the construction of the anode plant in Luleå. I am extremely proud of the Talga team in this achievement.”
Talga Group is building a European battery materials supply chain to offer products critical to the green transition. Talga's integrated Vittangi anode project in northern Sweden includes a graphite mining operation near Kiruna and an anode refinery in Luleå.
