(Kitco News) - K92 Mining (TSX: KNT) announced today that underground mining operations resumed on July 6, 2023 at the Kainantu gold mine in Papua New Guinea following a tragic underground vehicular incident (previously reported on June 28, 2023).

The company said that during this time there has only been limited impact on surface activities and surface stockpiles have been treated through the process plant.

Importantly, K92 noted that its production and cost guidance for 2023 remains unchanged.

Safety and the well-being of everyone at K92 is and always will be our highest priority. And, to the family, friends and co-workers of our two colleagues we once again extend our deepest thoughts, prayers and condolences during this exceptionally difficult time.”

K92 Mining is engaged in the production of gold, copper and silver at the Kainantu gold mine in the Eastern Highlands province of Papua New Guinea, as well as exploration and development of mineral deposits in the immediate vicinity of the mine.
