Proposed Ambler access road in Alaska to be denied by Biden administration - report teaser image

The proposed Ambler access road to Triology Metals' base metals project  in central Alaska will be denied by the Biden administration, according to a report by Politico published today.

Politico writes that the Interior Department is "...expected to issue a recommendation that would effectively kill the Ambler Road project in its current form, according to two people with knowledge on the decision who were granted anonymity because it was not yet public." The final environmental analysis due out later this week.

Trilogy Metals (TSX: TMQ) is a metal exploration and development company holding a 50 percent interest in Ambler Metals LLC, which has a 100 percent interest in the Upper Kobuk Mineral Projects in northwestern Alaska. In 2019 South32, a globally diversified mining and metals company, exercised its option to form a 50/50 joint venture with Trilogy. The UKMP is located within the Ambler Mining District. The district hosts polymetallic volcanogenic massive sulphide deposits.

Ambler Metals says it has signed cooperation agreements with First Nations. The company also says the access road is supported by U.S. Senators Lisa Murkowski and Dan Sullivan, R-Alaska and U.S. Representative Mary Peltola, D-Alaska.
