(Kitco News) - According to the latest figures from the Ministry of Energy and Mines of Peru (MINEM), gold production in Peru, the world’s eighth largest gold producing country, was 7,961 kg in July 2022, a decline of 2.8% compared to 8,187 kg mined in July 2021.
MINEM said that this negative performance was primarily due to lower production recorded by Compañía Minera Poderosa S.A. (-11.9%) and Minera Yanacocha S.R.L. (-9.0%).
At the company level, Compañía Minera Poderosa S.A. maintained its first position accounting for 9.8% of total gold production in Peru, followed by Minera Yanacocha S.R.L. (8.9%) and Minera Aurífera Retamas S.A. (7.0%).
