Silver production in Peru down 10.2% in November 2022, ministry says

(Kitco News) - According to the Ministry of Energy and Mines of Peru (MINEM), silver production in Peru, the world’s third largest silver producing country, was 244,462 kg in November 2022, a decline of 10.2% compared to 272,165 kg mined in November 2021.

MINEM said that this negative performance was primarily due to the lower production reported by Compañía Minera Antamina S.A. (-8.5%) and Compañía Minera Ares S.A.C. (-33.1%).

At the company level, Compañía Minera Antamina S.A. was the largest silver producer in Peru accounting for 16.9% share of the country’s total silver production, followed by Compañía Minera Ares S.A.C. (8.1%) and Volcan Compañía Minera S.A.A. (6.8%).

At the regional level, Áncash maintained its first position accounting for 21.5% share of Peru’s total silver production, followed by Pasco (19.7%) and Junín (14.6%).
