(Kitco News) - Newmont (NYSE: NEM, TSX: NGT) announced yesterday the appointment of Karyn Ovelmen as executive vice president and chief financial officer.

Ovelmen previously had stints at Flowserve, LyondellBassell Industries NV, and Petroplus Holdings AG.

Ovelmen will be based in Denver.

Newmont is the world's number one gold miner. The company is attempting to acquire Newcrest Mining.
